Nowadays mental disorders take up a prominent position on the list of diseases that occur frequently. One in the five adults suffers from a mental disorder at the moment. The social and economic consequences of this problem are enormous. The annual costs of it are between 25 and 33 billion guilders, so the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sports (VWS) said on the European Conference on Mental Health 2001 that was recently held in Rotterdam. This conference was organised by Mental Health Care (GGZ) the Netherlands and the Trimbos Institute.
